Alert: Zombies on the Loose in West Des Moines

A large contingent of zombies was sighted walking from Valley Junction to the Val Air Ballroom Saturday evening. The situation is under control, says zombie king Tyler Mane.

West Des Moines' first Zombie Walk, a cooperative effort of the Val Air Ballroom, Historic Valley Junction Foundation and the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, brought out several dozen zombies who are shuffling through the city.

The free walk drew kids and adults, many of whom will take part in Zombie Prom at the Val Air Ballroom Saturday night.

West Des Moines Police helped out in two ways. First by temporarily blocking traffic so the zombies could safely cross busy Grand Avenue and Ashworth Road with having their brains smashed by drivers. Second, by playing the zombie dance anthem "Thriller" in the lead patrol car.
