Why Did West Des Moines Man Allgedly Pull Gun on His Neighbor?

Was it the secondhand smoke?

A West Des Moines man allegedly pulled a gun on his neighbor after she complained that he had thrown liquid on her from the balcony above while she smoked on her patio last week.

The woman, 48, had just moved back into the townhouse she owned in the 1400 block of 20th Street. She was showered with an unidentified liquid twice as she smoked on the patio and went upstairs to confront her neighbor after the second occurrence, according to West Des Moines Police Officer Jeremy Kemmer.

When the neighbor, 23, opened the door, his handgun was drawn, according to Kemmer’s report. The woman said that when the neighbor recognized her, he put the gun in a closet near the door. A short time later, the man reportedly came to her residence and apologized.

She hadn’t complained to police the first time liquid was poured on her, according to the report.

The case remains open.
