What's Open, What's Closed on Labor Day in West Des Moines?

A three-day weekend looms and West Des Moines Patch has a rundown of what's open and closed tied to the Labor Day holiday.

Many of you will have next Monday, Sept. 3, off of work to celebrate Labor Day. So what will be open and closed on the holiday?

You can't get away from the predicted heat at West Des Moines public pools. Both Holiday Park Aquatic Center and Valley View Aquatic Center closed earlier this month when lifeguards and other pool staff headed back to school.

Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed a day because of Labor Day. Trash and recyclables will be collected Tuesday-Saturday next week, according to the city's website.

There is no mail service on Monday and all banks are closed in observance of Labor Day.

The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority will follow a Sunday schedule on Labor Day with its regular schedule resuming Tuesday.

If shopping is your thing, both and will be open. Jordan Creek is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Valley West is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most merchants in will be closed.
