Dry Goods, a Women’s Specialty Store with Iowa Roots, Opens at West Des Moines Mall

The store is a division of Iowa-based Von Maur.

Dry Goods LLC, a division of Iowa-based Von Maur Inc. selling women’s apparel, including some first-in-the market fashion labels, opened today at the Jordan Creek Town Center mall, according to a news release.

A grand opening is planned Saturday and will feature in-store giveaways of products, which include leading brands such as Hudson, Jessica Simpson and Silver, among others.

The store opening is part of a strategic growth plan to further establish the Midwestern roots of the store and eventually expand nationwide, according to the release. Dry Goods opened its first location in Aurora, IL, in 2010. The 4,000-square-foot women’s specialty store at the Jordan Creek mall is the first Dry Goods store in Iowa and the eighth the company has opened.

"We are thrilled to open our first Dry Goods store in our home state of Iowa and are confident our newest location in West Des Moines will be successful," Lindsay Caltagirone, vice president of Von Maur's Dry Goods division, said in the news release.

She noted that with more than 150 specialty stores, Jordan Creek Town Center is the largest shopping complex in Iowa and the fourth largest in the Midwest.

"We look forward to showcasing our mix of contemporary fashion and quality customer service to shoppers at Jordan Creek,” Caltagirone said.

The Von Maur family of Iowa opened its first store in Iowa in 1872, and now has 27 locations of its upscale department store in the Midwest. In addition to its West Des Moines store at Valley West Mall, Von Maur has Iowa stores in Cedar Falls, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Davenport.
