Spring is coming (really). Spring Gallery Night in Historic Valley Junction, when five great shops will extend hours to show work of regional, national and international artists, is a sure sign of it.

A news release from Historic Valley Junction Foundation:

Friday, April 12 is Historic Valley Junction’s Spring Gallery Night. Five galleries will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring new artwork by regional, national, and international artists. This event is free and open to the public.

In addition to the galleries, many other Valley Junction shops and restaurants are open extended hours for the event.

New to Gallery Night this year, Wines of Iowa will provide samples of different Iowa wines at each of the five participating galleries.

In its 18th year, Gallery Night continues to grow as a popular community event. It is one of the largest merchant events in Historic Valley Junction and a terrific opportunity to rediscover this eclectic and lively shopping district. The galleries of Historic Valley Junction offer original artwork, custom jewelry, ceramics, glass, furniture, folk art, and fine art reproductions, as well as many other one-of-a-kind objects. Gallery Night supports many locally owned businesses and showcases the community of Historic Valley Junction.

Participating galleries are:

Aokay Antiques/Atomicblond Mid Century Modern Gallery Loft specializes in art, sculpture, lighting, turn of the century oak, jukeboxes, slot machines, vintage advertising signs, toys, jewelry, architecturally designed furniture, Scandinavian design. 

Kavanaugh Art Gallery is family owned and operated, offering original artwork, sculpture and signed and numbered prints, from both deceased and living artists. Quality framing done on site.

2AU Limited features one-of-a-kind, fine jewelry, accessories, and contemporary art by international and local artists. 2AU offers unique, designer jewelry created in their studio or personalized design with Ann Au to create stunning wearable art made from precious and semi-precious materials. New work by Sarah Grant, Scott Charles Ross and Tilly Woodward will be on display at

Olson-Larsen Galleries, a contemporary gallery representing regional artists. Olson-Larsen Galleries serves the business community, collector and homeowner and specialize in museum quality framing.

Eyebeads and Gemstones features uniquely designed jewelry by Mary Jane Long using gemstones from around the world and a variety of African collectible art.

In addition to the galleries that make up the Historic Valley Junction Art Association, eight major sponsors and 23 supporting merchants make Gallery Night possible. Gallery Night’s major sponsors are: City Design Kitchen and Bath Concepts, G. Migs 5Th Street Pub, Hamilton Law Firm, Historic Valley Junction Foundation, The Longest Yard Sports Grill, The Val Air Ballroom, West Bank and Wines of Iowa.

Historic Valley Junction is six square blocks of antique and specialty shops, art and craft galleries, fashion boutiques, hair salons, service businesses, and restaurants.
