Valley Junction Mexican-Italian Restaurant Chisme Closing Saturday

Since 2010, Cordon Bleu culinary graduate has been serving unique flavors.

Saturday marks the end of a chapter in the life of a son of Mexican emigrants who came to Iowa as a youngster, then graduated from the Cordon Bleu culinary school. Jesus Ojeda is closing Chisme, his Mexican-Italian restaurant.

Chisme opened in Valley Junction in 2010, moving there from Des where the restaurant opened as El Chisme in 2008.

Ojeda  told the Des Moines Register that he and his family are “sad to close” the restaurant, “but feel that everything happens for a reason.”

“We look at it as another chapter in my life,” he said. “We will miss everyone and thank them very much for the great years in business.”
