MCC 51

Henry VS Howser

On Friday, January 24, the Midwest’s most popular promotion returns
to Hy Vee Hall to kick off the first show of the year, and 2014 is
ringing in with a bang!

MCC 51 features a championship fight for
the vacant featherweight title between former belt holder, Josh “Bam
Bam” Henry and rising star Eric Howser. Howser, who avenged one of only
two losses at MCC 50, is riding a four fight win streak and will use
that surge of confidence when he meets Josh Henry, who most recently
defeated another former champ and WEC veteran, in Chris “Mad Dog”
Mickle. This bout promises to be action packed from bell to bell.

MCC’s
John Halverson commented, “Josh Henry looked great in his fight against
Mickle. Josh have overcome a lot of personal obstacles in his life, and
throughout all of it, he’s been grounded by mixed martial arts and a
strong work ethic. And with Eric Howser, you’ve got a guy who has
typically been known for his knockout power, but now he’s submitting
guys, beating strong wrestlers, and with each fight he’s getting better
and better. I can’t imagine two guys who are more deserving to fight for
the featherweight title.”

The coveted championship, was most
recently vacated by Timmy Gorman, who was recently awarded a multi-fight
contract with the UFC after a short stint on The Ultimate Fighter.

Also
on MCC 50, former lightweight contender Demi “The Human Destroyer”
Deeds returns to the cage following a short hiatus and will face off
against decorated wrestler, Josh Marker.

Deeds, who dropped his
last bout to lightweight champion, Johnny “Hollywood” Case, has been
putting on exciting, highlight worthy fights for more than a decade. A
soft spoken gentleman outside the cage, Deeds prefers to do his talking
with his hands.

Marker, a wrestler and coach who has made a
successful transition to the cage, will test Deeds’ skills on the mat as
the two battle in a 160 pound catch weight feature.

Welterweight’s
Carlos Newborn and Gary Hedlund will meet each other in a three round
bout that’s guaranteed to bring fireworks. Damion Sheehan makes his
professional debut when he meets Jon Milledge, and Eric “ET” Thavonekham
battles Mark Tong Van in a flyweight bout that has title implecations
written all over it.

Plus Nate Endres, Johnny “Bananas” Wentland,
Josh Thele, Felipe Saldana, Ben Halder, Spencer Drish, and many more
will put their skills on display January 24.

“As always, we are
going to try and stack the card with the top up and coming talent,”
Halverson continued. “MCC is always trying to promote the guys people
will end up watching on pay per view. Our record speaks for itself. And I
think MCC 51 will have some of those very guys fighting.”
