What's Open, What's Closed in West Des Moines on Labor Day 2013?

Americans will pause for Labor Day to celebrate workers, finish some DIY projects before fall or just enjoy one last blast of summer.

It’s Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer. What’s on your agenda?

West Des Moines Community Schools, as well as all parochial schools in West Des Moines, will be closed, as will most city and government offices, except those providing essential services.

There won’t be any garbage collection on Monday and collection will delayed one day for all residential customers.

Banks will be closed. There won’t be any mail service. The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority won’t be operating. The West Des Moines Public Library will be closed.

Regional malls in West Des Moines are open. Jordan Creek Town Center is open regular hours from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Valley West Mall is operating on a holiday schedule of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
