Our government should not be for sale

Like many Iowans, I am fed up with out-of-state oil billionaires trying to buy Iowa’s Senate seat. Groups backed by Koch Brother money are funding ads that attack Bruce Braley and distort who he is and what he stands for.  These ads are all about scoring cheap political points and ignoring the facts.   Bruce Braley is running for the United States Senate to fight for Iowa’s middle class.  Born the son of a Marine and a school teacher, he grew up with the core values that define Iowans: hard work, family, and compassion towards others. When Bruce was a child, his father was severely injured in a fall at the grain elevator where he worked. Motivated by his  family’s experience dealing with his father’s accident, Bruce went to law school so he could stand up for families hit by tough times.  For nearly 25 years Bruce represented: workers who were injured on the job, farmers struggling through the farm crisis, small businesses struggling with government red tape, retirees who lost their pensions, people who lost their jobs, and families denied insurance benefits they deserved. Bruce understands the middle class because he comes from the middle class.  He understands what it’s like to work hard and struggle to make ends meet.  He has worked hard for Iowa’s middle class in Congress and he will continue to fight for us in the US Senate.
