Man Shot After Leaving Concert Early Sunday Morning

The victim told West Des Moines police he was walking to his car when he heard three gunshots. One of the bullets struck him in the arm.

West Des Moines police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting outside the Val Air Ballroom that left one concertgoer with a gunshot wound in his arm.

Freddie Lee Milsap Jr., 25, of Des Moines wa leaving the concert sometime between 1:30 and 2 a.m. and was walking to his car in the parking lot of the Val Lanes Bowling Alley when he heard three gunshots, police spokesman Lt. Jim Barrett said in a statement to the media.

One of the bullets struck Millsap, who was alone at the time, in the arm. He called a friend who took him to an area hospital, according to the statement.

Police did not say how seriously Millsap was injured.

No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
