Spring Clean-Up

Spring Clean-Up will be held the week of June 4 - June 8. 

The event is scheduled on the regular garbage pick-up days during the first full week of June. Solid waste will be collected on your regularly scheduled date during spring clean up.

Spring Clean-Up Days are city wide collection days organized for residents to dispose of large household items.

All items should be on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your
regular garbage day that week. All items must be bagged or boxed.

The following items will NOT be accepted:
• Tires
• Vehicles and/or
major auto parts.
• Buildings, major building parts, or large piles of
building material.
• Concrete chunks (ALL SIZES).
• Asphalt shingles
over 65 lbs. in total weight.
• Banned substances such
as
    o lead
    o acid
    o batteries
    o waste oil
    o explosive material
    o medical waste
    o drugs
    o poisons
    o highly combustible material
    o paint
    o any other toxic or hazardous substance
• Animal
Carcasses
• Yard Waste

The following appliances will NOT be accepted during Spring Clean-Ups:

• Refrigerators
• Washers
• Dehumidifiers
• Freezers
• Furnaces
• Air Conditioners
• Stoves
• Dryers
• Microwaves
• Water Heaters
• Dishwashers


To arrange for a pickup of any of these appliances, call Waste Connections at 265-7374, or include them in one of the Scrap Appliance & Metal Drop-Offs (April 14th and September 15th) at the Public Works Facility, 560 S. 16th Street, WDM! These drop-off events are open to all West Des Moines residents.
