Here's How West Des Moines Voted at the Caucuses

By now you know that Romney edged past Santorum in a Caucus squeaker. Here's a look at how Polk County and West Des Moines precincts cast their votes.

Polk County voters, including those in West Des Moines, contributed to Mitt Romney's narrow Iowa Caucus win Tuesday night.

Only eight votes separated Caucus winner Romney, from former Pennsylvania senator and second-place finisher Rick Santorum. With 183 precincts reporting in Polk County, Romney captured 6,240 votes. Ron Paul came in second with 4,948 votes, while Santorum came in third with 4,735 votes. Newt Gingrich pulled in fourth place with 2,797 votes.

Some West Des Moines voting highlights

Smallest precinct: In most, but not all West Des Moines precincts, Romney was the winner. In precinct 113, the city's smallest with 57 voters, Ron Paul was the winner with 16 votes, followed by 12 for Santorum and 11 for Romney. The precinct is close to , caucus-goers met at .

Largest precinct: The largest number of voters — 473 — were to be found in the more affluent precinct 314, which met at , 5025 Grand Ave. There, Romney drew the lion's share of the votes at 255, followed by Paul with 73 and Santorum at 59.

Dallas County precincts: The two West Des Moines precincts in Dallas County were also in Romney's camp. He received a total of 239 votes to 133 for Santorum. The county as a whole also gave the win to Romney.
