New City Director Comes to West Des Moines From Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Iowa

The city of West Des Moines Wednesday announced who will be filling the role of human services director.

From a media release:

West Des Moines City Manager Greg Sparks announced Tuesday morning that Althea Holcomb has accepted an offer to be the next Human Services Director for the City of West Des Moines.

Althea Holcomb has extensive experience in human services, most recently as the Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa.  Ms. Holcomb received her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Iowa.

Holcomb will begin her employment with the City on Monday, July 22.

Holcomb was one of three finalists for the position. She was selected out of an applicant pool of over 80 applications with a broad reach of candidates coming from within and outside the state of Iowa.
