Valley Senior First High School Student on Governor’s STEM Advisory Council

Annie Howard brings the perspective of a young Iowan exploring career option to coalition of business, policy and education leaders charged with bolstering STEM literacy and innovation in Iowa.

Valley High School senior Annie Howard is the first high school student ever to serve on the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, a coalition of business, policy and education leaders charged with bolstering science, technology, education and mathematics education and innovation in Iowa.

Howard was among 15 appointments recently announced by Gov. Terry Branstad, according to a story on the West Des Moines Community Schools web site.  The council also also advises Branstad and other leaders on policy that better positions Iowa’s young people and the state’s economy for the future.

Her term began Sept. 1 and runs through August 2014. More information.
