Dowling Girls Move On To State Soccer Tournament

The team will play at 5:15 p.m. in the Thursday quarterfinals at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

Following a win Monday night against Urbandale, the Dowling Catholic girls soccer team is on its way to the state tournament.

Dowling improved to 16-2 with a 2-1 home victory over the J-Hawks, according to the Des Moines Register

Other teams advancing to the tournament, which will be played at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, include Ankeny, Waukee, and Johnston.

Here are Register highlights from the other advancing CIML teams:

Payton Thompson scored twice for Johnston (16-3) in a 5-1 win over visiting Fort Dodge. Waukee moved to 15-4 after defeating visiting Valley 1-0 (4-2 on penalty kicks). Ankeny  improved to 19-0 with 18 shutouts following a 4-0 victory over Marshalltown.

Dowling will play 13-5 Dubuque Hempstead at the Thursday quarterfinals. The game starts at 5:15 p.m.
