Valley, Dowling Advance to Iowa High School State Softball Tournament

Find out who the Tigers and the Maroons will play in the 2013 quarterfinals Monday.

Both West Des Moines Valley and Dowling Catholic has its sights set on a high school state championship.

But who will come out on top?

Both varsity softball teams advanced to the state tournament following wins in the Class 5A regional finals. 

No. 8 Valley beat No. 9 Southeast Polk 3-2 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the no. 6 Maroons came out with a 2-0 win over East on Saturday.

The Tigers, 26-15, will play Monday in the quarterfinal round of the Iowa High School state softball tournament, according to the Des Moines Register. They play Johnston (30-11) at 7 p.m.

The Maroons play Dubuque Senior (33-7) earlier in the evening at 5:30 p.m.

All state softball games will be played at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, located at 1628 Nelson Ave.

The semifinals are Thursday, July 25 at 7 and 7:30 p.m. The final is Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m.
