Suspicious Vehicle Reportedly Approaches 14-Year-Old Boy on Bicycle

If you have information about brown colored van or its occupants, call West Des Moines police.

A 14-year-old West Des Moines boy said that he was approached by a suspicious individuals in a van about 8:30 a.m. this morning as he rode his bike in the 1100 block of 11th Street.

Two white males occupied the van. The driver reportedly pulled over and one of the occupants slid the door open, West Des Moines Police Spokesman Lt. Jim Barrett said in a news release. 

"Nothing was said, and when other traffic came along, the van drove off into a nearby parking lot," Barrett said. "The van came back towards the teenager, but again left the area when more traffic came by."

The youth then rode back to his home and told his parents. 

The van was described as a brown colored with white lettering on the side.

The driver of the van was described as a white male adult 25 to 40 years of age with long hair and a beard. The passenger was described as a white male adult 25 to 40 years of age with a “buzz cut” hair style.
