Stranded In Storm; Off Route In Jamaica; An Endless Hill: Ragbrai 2013 Day 2 Photos

The longest, hardest and hilliest day of the week is over.

Ragbrai trekked 80-some miles from Harlan to Perry through some of Iowa's hilliest countryside.

I'm proud to say I didn't dismount and walk my faithful Schwinn up a 2-mile long beast coming out of Springbrook Park.

Though, I did jump on the Raccoon River trail for part of the ride, which was a bit flatter and smoother than the open road.

If I hadn't I would have missed a the little town of Jamaica where a few hundred cyclists settled in. The highlight was a large shirtless man challenging people to slap his belly and leave a bigger impression than the previous one.

A thunderstorm rolled in early evening trapping some people on their bikes. I hid out in my tent for part of the time and then ventured out with a raincoat and a GoPro for some photos.

Today, I'll be helping staff a Patch booth in Valley Junction. We'll be by the stage. Stop by and say 'hi'.
