For the Road? Thief Steals Engagement Ring and Surprising Item from Woman's Gym Bag

A diamond ring and a second item meaningless item for most people was reported stolen to the West Des Moines Police Department.

West Des Moines Police officers investigating a theft should look for a suspect with a sparkly diamond engagement ring who isn't sweating.

According to a report on file at the police department, Ashleigh Dowell of Des Moines was playing softball at the Raccoon River Softball fields on Grand Avenue in West Des Moines the morning of July 21.

Dowell told officers she took off her engagement ring and put it in her bag. When she was done a couple hours later she went to get the ring out of her bag, but it was gone. The ring is a white gold engagement ring, size 5 ¾, with three diamond stones, purchased for $900.
